The Integral X-Y-Z Design
Compared with other modular approaches, the RollerBlock provides a more compact stage, enabling this three axis translator to meet the performance demands of many positioning applications, over the entire 13 mm translation range. Compared to translation stages constructed from stacking single axis stages, the unibody approach, with steel construction, provides improved product lifetime within a much smaller footprint.

Compatible with the Full Line of NanoMax™ and MicroBlock™ Flexure Stages and Accessories
The movable deck has a full 13 mm of travel in three orthogonal directions and includes a grooved top plate which ensures alignment of our full line of optical accessories. The deck height of this compact stage matches the 62.5 mm deck height of our flexure based translation stages. Utilizing this standard deck height allows this longer travel stage to be incorporated into complex optical systems built around our popular flexure based stages, such as our MicroBlock and NanoMax series.

The Differential Micrometer Heads
The DRV304 Differential Micrometers used in the RBL13D utilize a unique mechanism which converts a relatively large displacement of the external knob into a relatively small displacement of the center fine-adjustment spindle. The design has the additional benefit of providing a uniformly smooth feel that is independent of load. Two large knobs are provided, one for the coarse adjustment and one for the differential adjustment, thus adding to the overall sensitivity of the unit. The coarse adjustment knob provides 13 mm of total travel with 5 µm resolution while the differential knob provides 300 µm total travel with a 0.50 µm resolution.

Interchangeable Top Plate
The Top Plate of the RBL13 stages can be replaced with the RB13P1 Adapter Plate shown above. This optional mounting plate has a generous array of 1/4"-20 (M6 x 1.0) and 8-32 (M4 x 0.7) mounting holes to adapt the RollerBlock stage to general purpose breadboard-type applications.

Custom Configurations
For applications requiring very precise control, the manual actuators can be replaced with Piezo-Assisted Differential Micrometers (DRV517). In addition to the standard micrometer adjustment described above, these drives give a piezo travel of 30 µm and a resolution of 10 nm.

3-Axis RollerBlock with Differential Micrometers

The combination of the steel and aluminum construction of the RollerBlock™ translator is ideally suited for a broad range of photonics applications. The crossed roller bearing design provides a vertical load capacity of 9.7 lbs (4.4 kg) while maintaining the sub-micron resolution provided by the high precision actuators.


Tapped Top Plates


The RB13P1(/M) optional top plate replaces the standard grooved top plate of the stages sold above. It has a generous array of thirteen 1/4"-20 (M6) and twelve 8-32 (M4) mounting holes to adapt the stage for use with general purpose accessories and components. 

The MMP1(/M) top plate is included with the stages sold above but can be purchased separately below. This plate features a 3 mm wide central keyway to allow rapid configuration while maintaining accessory alignment, as well as four 4-40 (M2), sixteen 6-32 (M3), and nine 8-32 (M4) mounting holes.
