Construction Cubes
The RM1G and RM1F(/M) Construction Cubes aid in building rigid 3D structures from our Ø1" pedestal posts, 25 mm rails, and other optomechanics. They are machined from a single block of aluminum, providing excellent rigidity, and their faces are parallel and perpendicular to within 0.002" (0.05 mm). The RM1G features three 1/4"-20 (M6) counterbores on adjacent faces, while the RM1F contains a centered 1/4"-20 (M6) tapped hole on all six sides.

Low-Profile Channel Screws
In order to fasten optomechanics to the adjacent faces of the RM1G construction cube, our Low-Profile Channel Screws are required. These low-profile screws feature a shortened cap height relative to standard cap screws. This shortened cap allows the screws to be inserted into the RM1G at right angles, as shown to the right.

 

Counterbored Construction Cube

 

  • Holds up to Three Optomechanics at Right Angles
  • One-Piece Aluminum Construction for Excellent Rigidity
  • Parallel and Perpendicular to Within 0.002" (0.05 mm)

 

The RM1G Construction Cube contains three 1/4"-20 (M6) counterbores on adjacent faces. Since it is machined from a single block of aluminum, it is ideal for constructions that need the highest available degree of sturdiness. It can be connected to up to three optomechanics by tightening our Low-Profile Channel Screws (sold below) through the counterbores, as shown in the image to the right.

If compatibility with more than three optomechanics is needed, or if optomechanics are to be placed on opposing faces, please consider the RM1F Construction Cube below

 

Tapped Construction Cube

 

  • Holds up to Six Optomechanics at Right Angles
  • One-Piece Aluminum Construction for Excellent Rigidity
  • Parallel and Perpendicular to Within 0.002" (0.05 mm)

The RM1F(/M) Construction Cube contains a centered 1/4"-20 (M6) tapped hole on all six sides. Since it is machined from a single block of aluminum, it is ideal for constructions that need the highest available degree of sturdiness. It can be connected to up to six optomechanics by using setscrews.

 

Low-Profile Channel Screws

 

  • Sold in Boxes of 100 Screws
  • SH25LP38: 1/4"-20 Threading, 1/8" Hex Head
  • SH6M10LP: M6 Threading, 4 mm Hex Head

 

Our Low-Profile Channel Screws have a reduced cap height relative to standard screws, permitting them to be used in tight spaces. In particular, they are recommended when neighboring screws are at a right angle and in close proximity, as in our XE25W3 Corner Cube or RM1G Construction Cube.

Shown to the right are a standard cap screw and a low-profile channel screw installed in an RM1G cube. The low-profile screw's shortened cap height prevents neighboring screws from interfering with each other
